The New Guy (Gideon)

It was his first day back at school, and Seb had noticed a distinct lack of George. Well, he knwe he was moving back to England, but for some reason he still expected George to be here when he got back. He was going to miss his ex-room mates quirky English accent. He'd even picked it up a little.
So now Seb was lying on his top bunk wondering who his new room mate would be. He did very little with his spare time. Then the door clicked as someone turned the handle. He popped his headaround the corner to see a very lean guy who looked older than Seb. Maybe even a Senior.

It had been one very long night for the inflammatory junior Gideon Liesel. And like most peoples late nights, the morning had come far to early. His dark black boots clomped over the tiled flooring of the male dormitory as he absent mindedly wandered to his new dorm room. Number fourteen, he couldn't remember who it was that occupied the room, but he rarely cared to remember most people anyway so it wasn't very surprising. For the past few years Gideon had been holed up on the opposite side of the male dorms with a less then agreeable roommate. Tension had been mounting between the two since sophomore year and yesterday, or more accurately last night, the drama had finally culminated into a physical exhange. It was the last straw as far as administration was concerned, but unlike most schools who would have simply expelled both of the students, Gideon had instead been relocated to the schools equivalent of Alcatraz.

The clomping noise of his boots came to rest before a door that looked exactly like every other dorm room save for the fourteen embossed upon it. Gideon swallowed hard, trying to get the cotton feeling from his mouth as he shifted the weight of his duffle bag to a more comfortable spot on his left shoulder and fished out his key. As it would turn out, the door wasn't locked anyway, which hopefully meant his room mate was inside. Running a quick hand through his dull blond hair Gideon tossed open the door. He wasn't dressed in his school uniform quite yet as he had been pulled from his previous dorm to the principals office before he ever got the chance to change. As a result he was dressed in his typical attire, jeans and a dark t-shirt underneath an unzipped red and white leather motorcycle jacket. All of which was terribly wrinkled.

As his blue eyes glanced across the room Gideon couldn't help but feel a little claustrophobic. It was so narrow.

"Cozy," remarked Gideon as he set his duffle bag against the wall. His valuable possessions were kept in it. Well, that and dirty laundry. He still had to collect his books and a handful of other belongings from his old dorm, but that could wait till later. His eyes finally focused on a head that had popped out farther back in the dorm room. It looked.....young, but friendly. His roommate might not have been able to buy him booze, but at least he didn't look like a jerk either.

Seb jumped down from his bunk and stood upright, shifting some hair from his face. "Hi, so you must be..." it occured to Seb part way through that sentance that he had absolutey no idea what this guys name was.

He'd been silent for a few seconds now and the new guy hadn't said anything either. usually this would have been akward if, say, they'd been standing right next to one another. However, his room was extremely long which made the situation supremely akward. Seb didn't like this. He twitched his nose, looked down at the lower bunk and scratched the back of his neck.

Gideon smiled as the younger boy greeted him. Well Gideon specifically smiled at the part where his roomie had obviously no idea who he was, or where to go with his introduction. Seconds ticked by as Gideon made the journey towards the back of the room. When he finally arrived within conversation distance he decided to help the boy out by picking up where the other had left off.

"Your new room mate? Yes, I am," he said as he reached a hand up to the boy on the top bunk, forgetting in his excitment that his knuckles were still bruised and scabbed over from last nights altercation. Say what you will, punching a guy in the jaw doesn't just injure the guy taking the punch. Of course, Gideon had suffered worsed then a little swelling, and hardly even noticed the throb anymore.

"Of course, most people refer to me by Gideon," the blond junior added with a sly smile. No one had ever actually come up with a catchy nik name for him, so most people simply made do by calling him Gideon. Sometimes human beings just were not creative enough to be useful.

Instead of taking the hand Seb jumped down and straightened himself up to see the he was a fair bit taller than Gideon. This made him proud, it was nice to be tall. "I'm Seb, Seb Green. Hope don't mind having the bottom bunk." he said, looking at it and scratching the back of his neck. His gaze then flicked over to the set of draws just behind him and to his left. "The bottom two draws are yours too, by the way."

Gideon frowned when Seb jumped down from the bed. It wasn't because the younger student had failed to shake his hand so much as the fact that Seb was taller then he was. A childish reaction to be sure, but thats who it was. Gideon had grown up being picked on by kids taller the himself. Something about the extra inches gave them a false sense of confidence, and an over inflated ego. Plus they usually had long arms, which made fighting them obnoxious at best. Fortunately whatever discomfort Gideon had been put in with the discovery of yet another youngster taller then himself faded away as Seb brought up the issue of Gideon having the lower bunk.

"Works for me, I've never been a fan of having to climb a ladder to fall asleep, rather just collapse on the mattress and be done with it." remarked Gideon, acting out his statement by flopping down unceremoniously onto the bed. When his head hit the cool pillow he was is heaven.

"I honestly don't think I will get unpacked anytime soon, but thanks for the info anyway man." he said as he kicked off his shoes. "Any house rules I should know about?" he asked out of being polite. Even if there were house rules he doubted they would be followed consistantly.

Seb was taken a back. He was expecting his new room mate to push him around. Probably because he was older. When he didn't Seb was a little confused, but mostly relieved. And when Gideon asked about house rules Seb had to think for a second. He and George had generally gotten on pretty well, and hadn't had to make any house rules. Although now that he thought about it...
"Well me and George - that's my old roomie - we used to always consult each other before putting up posters or moving them around and stuff. The science ones were his and the rest are mine, for the most part." Seb looked around, it was a considerable mass of poster that had been bluetacked to their walls and ceiling.

"I don't think we are going to have many problems then," said the increasingly tired Gideon. He had never been a fan of posters. The only ones he really spent much time looking at had naked women on them, and he didn't have the guts to plaster his dorm with pornography, so his walls were usually bare. Gideon's half open eyes took in the overpowering effect of the poster covered walls. They were certainly interesting, and since Gideon had never seen them before they would likely serve as an interesting distraction for when he got bored.

His hands slipped beneath his pillow expecting find more cool fabric and soft sheets. Instead they clacked against a hard plastic object. With a slightly irritated groan the junior pulled back his pillow to find a bright yellow Frisbee with a black smiley face at its center. He arched an unenthusiastic eyebrow in surprise before flinging it haphazardly towards his roommate.

"Although I do generally frown upon my bed being used as a play pen," he grumbled. as he rolled onto his back, placing his hands behind his head for support.
